Okay, this is obviously not mine. Everyone in Second Life must know The Far Away by AM Radio. Not many, though, do know or do notice it is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 United States license. Therefor, I’m sharing an export of it here for anyone interested. Note: The installation comes in its individual pieces, and I couldn’t get the texture for the train (probably due to its size, as it’s 1024×2048) and thus replaced it with one of my own textures. For the light above the train, you might use our angel pose. Please see the tutorial on how to import this creation.

[EDIT: 19th December 2010: I made a re-export of the complete Far Away as xml and an oar file. Also, the train texture got finally exported alright.]
[EDIT 24th May 2011: I finally got to export the according poses as well.]

just loaded the .oar on one of my osgrid islands .. had to lower the terrain and adjust the whole scenery therefore but wow! .. this looks great .. same feelings as i had while standing there way back in time in SL .. so it is the Art not the place that gives the thrill
best regards

It always is, Word. Places come and go. The art is always there.

Thanks for this Vanish:) It’s always been one of my favs in SL. I’m working on a region called Lost Prairie because of it with plans to connect to osgrid. It does come in below your av and it’s tall so be aware. A good plan is to stand on a platform raised up and then rez it and adjust your land. I ended up lowering both my land and water levels to work it out.

Thanks for the comments everyone, every thank you is appreciated, even though I really can’t take any credit for it, as it’s AM Radio’s creation, so if you like this, you should send him an IM or notecard in SL and express your gratitude. It’s really a wonderful gift.

Hallo!

When folk use those files the creators name is removed from the creation and this is therefor against CC and is do sure break Second Life TOS.

The creator is properly attributed on this site, so the license is fulfilled. Whenever people pass the creation on, they need to somehow label it as “created by AM Radio”, but that need not neccessarily be done through the creator name in the viewer (which, as we all know, doesn’t tell much, see megaprims, for example). Also, I don’t think the upload will break Second Life’s TOS, but since we focus mainly on OpenSim, I’m not too concerned about that.

When I try to import.. I only have option for .xml not the .oar ????

OAR’s can only be uploaded through the OpenSim console, not through the viewer.
