If anyone has seen the movie, Logan’s Run, I’m trying to build (on OSGrid) a domed city similar to the one in the movie, I created the region sized dome, but now I have no idea on building the buildings and the inner city tube transportation that connect the buildings, etc etc,,, I have the images that can be followed if needed.

I don’t know if 1 region is large enough for the city, with the buildings that can actually be walked around in, and the inner city tube transportation that actually works, if 1 region isn’t large enough I can easily add another.

If anyone would like to contribute their building and scripting skills to this project, please let me know,,, thanks.

Hi, I haven’t seen the movie but a short check on internet gives the result it’s a large city. I think you need a minimum of 4 regions. I’m building a small city in an area of 4 regions and I already know it’s to small. For my castle I needed half a region (see http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.328472700569407.75717.100002200391260&type=3&l=2a6ece1df7 for some pictures).
Further use not to much scripts, in my VW I’ve about 4000 scripts which need 1 Gb memory (!!!) And don’t use timers they are memory consuming, a chat-relay is less memory consuming (see my door-script on this site).
An other problem is collada-objects, in first instance I imported several large buildings but it’s to heavy.
If you want to use elevators, well the same problem. I use a teleport to the several levels and it’s easier and less memory consuming.
At last my complete VW exists of 64 regions (most of it forest), I have 3 servers with 8 Gb memory and 1 database server only 512Mb memory. There are about 40 avatars and/or NPC’s but that’s the maximum, with more it’s going laggy. I use a modified RLV-relay to interact with the several scripts it’s a lot faster because all permissions are “in the avatar”, who communicates with the database and gives these permission to, for example, the doors or elevators.
If you want some more ideas please let me know ;)

    I was referring to my Day-checker (http://opensim-creations.com/2012/06/18/day-checker/) and not my Door-script ;)
