I am very new to the area of importing/exporting items. Basically I make shapes that are useable for secondlife/opensim. However, I cannot find a way to import them as regular shapes without them coming in world as simple mesh avs. Is there a way to import them from blender.. or any other program you know of.. so that they are simply basic shapes and not mesh?
I am using the default avatars then modifying them in blender. I know you can use inworld tools to make changes in appearance, but for tinies and kid avs you still have what looks like big boobs and over extended shoulder blades. I can remove these in blender, but just cant find a way to import them back into world without them being mesh avs. Or maybe they are supposed to come back in like that since the default avs are mesh to begin with, but then how would you convert them to just standard shapes?
Also, if I try to export my av to xml using imprudence, I never see a window or anything showing me the option of where to place the file and can never find the file on my computer. I can export using the cool vl viewer, but when I try to reimport the xml the viewer crashes.. it also crashes if I try to import it back in with imprudence. This is an untouched file. I simply export, then try to reimport, so not sure if it is something I am doing wrong or a grid issue.
Any help you could give me would be highly appreciated. Thanks, E.
Hi. The Imprudence Viewer has a built-in export functionality for shapes. It’s in the Appearance Editor, two little buttons (Export & Import) on the bottom of the window. You’ll need to be wearing a shape and be in appearance mode, select the shape tab, and if you’re the creator of the shape, it shoult be there.
Afaik there’s no way of editing the shape in blender and getting it in-world other than a rigged mesh file.
Thanks! Guess I will just have to get a little more creative inworld or just become a mesh artist and learn to make clothes for the avs I create
